Rafael Sabatini is a master storyteller. The Daily Telegraph described him thus: 'One wonders if there is another storyteller so adroit at filling his pages with intrigue and counter-intrigue, with danger threaded with romance, with a background of lavish colour, of silks and velvets, of swords and jewels'. 'The Fortunes of Captain Blood' (1936) is a collection of short stories. Captain Blood is handsome, brilliant and skilled with his blade, always one step ahead of his enemies. Perils upon perils challenge him but with his faithful crew, ever willing to follow him into danger, he manages to be both chivalrous and victorious. 'The Chronicles of Captain Blood' (1931), another collection of his short stories is also available.
Editorial : "An avenging angel, his oppressor's worst nightmare, the modern avatar of the Count of Monte Cristo. In the wake of Sabatini's dashing buccaneer come C.S. Forester and Patrick O'Brian, but also James Bond and Dick Francis" Washington Post "Captain Blood is a Dick Turpin of the High Seas, a seafaring version of The Scarlet Pimpernel, a Caribbean Zorro" -- Kate Mosse from the introduction to the Vintage edition of 'Captain Blood' "Buckles never swashed more dashingly" -- John Sutherland Guardian "I liked the idea that the hero was also the villain. He was a pirate with a conscience and that idea was to be very strong in my books" -- Eoin Colfer

Finally, the book contains very little or no information regarding some commonly used Windows Form controls, LINQ, DBContext/Entity Framework development or new features of .NET Framework 4.5. I bought this for one of our younger kids and we both like it. Adam is very thorough in his coverage and appears to cover everything in iPhoto 09. I did not. I have been in telecommunications for over 8 years, and carry this book around with me. This book was logically organized, and presented with a vocabulary that gripped your attention from the getgo. Good book but the movie takes the name and the "true story" and pu
