Reading it was like finding an oasis in the mists of life in a very male dominated culture. Since then, I have gotten my own copy of this book and use it quite often. As the preface says, this book approaches the subject from two different directions: analytic and synthetic. The Israelis because "Now you know what 'those people' are really like, those people we have to protect ourselves from." And the Palestinians because "Now you know what it's like to be powerless and abused in prison and treated as a sub-human, the way we are treated in Israeli jails routinely, even when we haven't committed any crime."

I've said it before: If irony could be bottled and sold, the Middle East wouldn't need to sell oil anymore.
